This was result of our enthusiasm to do atleast one work under Mr. Nishant Sharma who was there for his last semester of teaching in DOD. We were supposed to design a chair which in start was supposed to be a filleting excersice. The results were pretty good. A total of 18 chairs were designed by 17 students.

What i wanted to make was something that extends from being a singular chair. The thought that “is it possible to have multiple chairs in one design???”. I personally have experinced that not always we want to sit in the same posture; the posture we use depends on our state at that particular moment also. If i am tired i would personally preffer a more comfortable position and working reqiures a different position in itself.

Personally i enjoyed the work. Modelling in 3D max was easy, but theย rendering part took me some time (for about a full day i was not able to get out of my room), continuous hit and trials and this was the result….

  1. i like the feel of the chair. ๐Ÿ™‚ somehow, to me, it looks as thogh it can be used to sit upright, lay down, or any position in-between. was that intended, as an in-built feature in each chair? or are they 3 diff chairs? i mean, it’d be cool to have a chair whose business-part can be slid (on the legs) so as to permit any angle of seating.. dont you think? ๐Ÿ˜‰

work on the ‘mood’board a little more. as of now, there’s no definite heirarchy in the images, and in-a-way, the supporting images are lapping up more attention than they ought to, and that too, in a rather chaotic pattern. too many edges and sharp contrasts at the boundries of the images is also causing more agony than intended.

keep this blog going bro. maybe u have a david airey or a jacob cass hidden inside u somewhere.. ๐Ÿ™‚

waise to both of them are graphic designers ๐Ÿ˜› but i really dont mind ๐Ÿ˜‰

haan it was intended to be so, u can flip to to the side that suits u sit (as per ur mood) ๐Ÿ˜›

ya i have to work on mood board but first i plan to make a proper model of this thing (live model) first thing when i reach guwahati….. lets see ๐Ÿ™‚

well this work really signifies your coming of age as a designer. the concept is nicely executed through the modelling and rendering bit. I really love the thought that has gone behind a seemingly mundane object as a chair. I would love to see you explore the issues of ergonomics and actually make a proto. Way to go Jassi. Good work
